| The rough and ready reavers of the northern long ships break open casks of mead and welcome refugee's with hearty slaps and tall tales of great adventure. They speak of a northern home along a great forest of giant evergreen trees. They brag of their long hall and the strength of their High Jarl, Vigbjord Odinkarsson. They are seeking physicians, bond maids, hunters, ship builders, blacksmiths and fertile free women in addition to warriors and slavers. The seamen of Torvald's Landing seem to be a broad mix of Alar, Red Hunters, Red Savages, Wagon People and even some Tahari nomads.<includeonly> <Read More> </includeonly><noinclude>

| The winds of change were blowing through the northeastern lands. With the introduction of Verr, Apples and Larmas to trade along the seas, a hub of commerce sprang up around the first Thing-fairs to be held on World’s End. The village of Torvald’s Landing grew quickly as these raw goods came through to feed the growing demand along the northern coast.

| As the trade boomed, a variety of different nomadic cultures flocked to this area which had no caste system, offering them a chance to live by their own ancient traditions. The Red Warrior tribe, Alar, and the Red Savages were particularly drawn to Torvald as it was a refuge from the central Gorean caste structure and structured legal system.

| When the High Jarl Vigbjord Odinkarsson came to power, he vowed to respect and uphold each of the unique traditions of all who settled in the area, not just those of Torvaldsland. Consequently, the women of Torvald’s Landing have more freedoms of dress than is found in Port Argentum. Women are allowed weapons for protection or in the event of another village raiding but while veils are not expected, the women of Torvald’s Landing keep modest attire.

| Bridging the varied clans of the region was what saw Vigbjord recognized as High Jarl. Decades of clan squabbles and out right feuding finally ended with the implementation of the High Dual and Assemblies of Law. Now, all free men of the region have equal voice regardless of origins or birth. Respect is earned, not granted. A fragile peace has been attained and the local hunters, tradesmen, fishermen and farmers flourish. Women hold the keys to the homes and their freedom is respected and protected by the men of Torvald’s Landing.

| When Tiberius Rau, the skilled Builder, re-discovered the secret to making Gorean Energy bulbs, Vibjor decided to kidnap the Administrator to force him to share his knowledge with Torvald’s Landing. It is unclear if any secrets were actually revealed, because an unexpected alliance between Port Argentum and Turan Cove saw the Port’s brilliant administered freed. Further hostility is expected to break out any time.
