The village of Backwater Harbor, nestled on the southern shore of Vargrheim's Bite, was a testament to the unyielding resilience of outlaws, thieves, and pirates. Built by slaves, as its predecessor Port Kar once was, the streets teemed with a unique energy, a palpable sense of danger and excitement that seemed to pulse through every cracked cobblestone and shadowed alleyway. The skyline was dominated by the massive wooden docks that jutted out into the bay, their honeycombed walkways lined with an array of colorful flags, each representing a different ship's flag of convenience. The air was thick with the salty tang of the sea, mingled with the acrid smoke of burning coal and the occasional whiff of spiced incense wafting over from the bazaar. Pirate ships from across the land made Backwater Harbor their base of operations, and the docks were constantly alive with activity. Today, round ships flying black flags are seen coming into port at the docks of Backwater Harbor, bringing in their plunder from neighboring cities.
