Caste Guidelines

Some of the castes, such as the Assassin (Black) Caste require specialized rules to keep the RP fair and avoid the need for moderation. In the pursuit of cultivating the Gorean community which has been established on this server and the dedication to preservation of the Gorean theme, we have established a list of castes which will require either a serious amount of time dedicated to the role specifically or great deal of familiarity and experience with Gor and Gorean roleplay.

Assassin Caste

Application Restrictions

• Restricted to experienced Gorean Assassin players.
• Those new to the caste, but not new to Gor, may make an ooc request to be accepted by one of the approve assassin caste players.

How to evolve into this role

• To learn this role in character requires another experienced black caste player to take you on and train you.

Expectations of Fair Play

1. Contracts will only be accepted with valid IC reasoning, make it make sense. The Black Caste isn’t a place for players to bring their OOC issues or use metagamed information. Assassins may reject any contract of any type that they feel does not meet this standard. If there is doubt, any of the involved parties(Assassin, target, or contractor) may open a ticket with the admin team in order for an investigation to be instituted.
2. Server perma-kill rules apply, even on contracted kills unless agreed to by all parties involved. Should perma-death be the goal please see the rules for opening a ticket here Perma-death/Maiming (Rules). This ticket should be opened by the person seeking to contract an assassin and should include the name of the assassin they are seeking to hire in addition to all other required information.
3. In addition to contracts for killing, the Black Caste was often hired for other tasks, such as spying, capture, prisoner management, etc. All such contracts must follow the established rules for the server. Additionally, both the assassin and the contractor, in cases of capture will be obligated to provide at least two hours of roleplay to the target. The three-day time limit for captures will apply from the time of the original capture, not from the time the assassin hands their target over to their employer. (Note: This only applies for captures done without player consent, if you both want to extend the time, that is always acceptable.)
4. In order to join the Black Caste you must contact the current HoC either via Discord or in-game means to be evaluated for training. Understand that the training of a new member is an involved and dangerous prospect and may end in the death of your character. You may use either a thrall as your ‘training’ partner or another trainee with the understanding that completing the training and becoming a full member of the caste will require one of the trainees to die.
5. The admin team reserves the right to assess and deny any applicant to the Black Caste regardless of what RP has been done, if we feel you lack the knowledge or ability to handle the role, you will not be given the role.
6. Be creative. Not everything an assassin does needs to be about murder, the ability to be creative and create RP opportunities outside of killing is an essential skill for playing a killer on BoG.

No No List

1. Do not form Free Companionships. Assassins must remain emotionally detached and loyal only to their Caste.
2. Do not claim a Home Stone. Assassins should avoid any conflicting loyalties that could interfere with their duties.
3. Do not use poison. Poison is considered dishonorable and is prohibited by the Caste Codes.
4. Do not subcontract your kills. Each Assassin is responsible for carrying out their own assignments.
5. Do not form personal relationships that could interfere with your duties. Emotional detachment is essential.
6. Do not violate the Caste Codes. Adherence to the Caste Codes ensures professionalism and honor.
7. Do not engage in impromptu killings. Assassinations should be well-planned and strategic.
8. Do not use forbidden technology or weapons. Assassins must adhere to the Weapon Laws of Gor.
9. Do not reveal your identity unnecessarily. Maintain the secrecy and fear associated with the Assassin Caste.
10. Do not act without a contract. Assassins should only kill for a fee and under the terms of a contract.

1. Actually blue flame death someone.
2. Actually know the will, plans or nature of the Priest Kings, initiates are not actually intermediaries between Priest Kings and men, they only believe they are. This includes knowing that Priest Kings are an alien insectoid species and embroiled in a war with the Kur.
3. Touch women at all. Free or slave.
4. In the same vein, own a slave, period.
5. Bear arms, kill anyone or anything with their own two hands.
6. Actually OOCly believe their character can predict the future, cast magic, or read omens.
7. While Initiates have their own ecclesiastical courts you may not unilaterally introduce new laws that are not explicitely stated in the books themselves.
8. Introduce holidays that are not part of the lore itself.
9. Give away their mysteries and secret rituals to one not of the caste.
10. Openly eat meat or beans.
