Reducing Lag
- Animation
- Anything with an animation can contribute to lag around a build. This includes thralls on crafting benches, and any who linger around builds. Be careful about stacking them all in the same place.
- Lighting
- Limit lighting with open/flickering flames like torches and braziers. Try to not overlap their light radius. Remember that there are no electric lights! Patches of darkness, or dim light would be very normal. Shani’s Stuff lighting has an adjustable brightness feature. I would recommend using this, and setting it to roughly 35%. This will help reduce the number of lights you need. When able, pick options like lanterns over candles, but candles can be adjusted as well!
- Thespians/Merchants
- Pippi Thespians should have their head tracking turned off, especially when there are many in a smaller space. This is a check mark in the window you open to make changes to the Thespian. It is a silly thing, but it can make a big difference! The owner will need to make the change.
- Inventory
- Things with inventories! Anything that has an inventory (crafting benches, storage chests, random deco pieces, thralls, anything) will run a check against the server each time you come into render range of it EVEN IF IT IS EMPTY. It is super important to limit the number of inventories that you have in your base, and in one spot. With the pull feature of stacksize plus (the little red arrow after the number field of a crafting station or your handcrafted window), you can have less storage containers. There are items called “boxes” in the Beyond Decor mod that have large inventories that are best used for crafting rooms. Nearly everything you need can fit between ~4 boxes. Nearly every beyond decor piece that could possibly be a container can either have storage or not. They all have big inventories. Don’t want a bunch of chests or boxes about? Try a wardrobe, or cabinet!
- Fashionist Stand
- The everything moves rule also does go for fashonist stands. Man that wind is crazy! Limiting clans to 1-2 a person is a good call if you use them in your build.
- Emberlight
- How lovely you are. Your vines however..all move for some reason! The same thing goes for the placeable trees and plants. Be careful with how many you have! BD and Shani’s both have plants and vines to use that are often better suited for such things. Who doesn’t need an orchard of fruit trees!
