Talk:Vargor (RP Hub)

From Barbarians of Gor

Protectorate

With the Gorean fiction exists the understanding that villages exist within the political and martial structure of a larger nearby city with each city doing it a bit differently. There is no by the book name for the political relationship of these satellite communities so we have chosen the term Protectorate.

A protectorate on BoG is defined as an outpost or village which is sworn to Vargor both to offer and receive protection. A protectorate must be settled and united community of reasonable size that is organized under a single leader. Members of a protectorate are able to participate in Vargor as any other resident and have had caste rights extended to them.

How to become a protectorate
  1. First, you need to become the leader of an organized group of people settled in the same area who identify themselves as being part of a group. This does not have to be a single clan, but the concept of identity across multiple clans with a single leader for the group being identified, must have happened.
  2. Second, you must be active as this group for a period of no less then one month. Activity involves running events, interacting in the discord story channels as well as role-playing together towards some united fiction.
  3. Third, you must be invited by the Admins, to become a protectorate. Since so much of the requirements are flexible and thus subjective, only the admins can determine of the goal has been reached. Advice to one wishing to form a protectorate; see what the other protectorates are doing and match or exceed them.

The Ubar of Vargor has laid foundations following his vision to gather the true men and women of Gor together, so that they might bring civilization to New Sardar. With some of its founders hailing from Kassau, Vargor reflects a blend of northern and southern cultures, although it remains predominantly Gorean to the majority of effects and practices.

Free people of any caste are welcomed to its halls. Free men are expected to act as such, whilst Free Women -considered by the Ubar the key to build a long lasting legacy and society in the isle- are offered protection, so long as they follow expectations.

Location

H8 on Telith’s Island and surrounding area

Events/RP settings

- The Tarn’s Rest Paga Tavern, where men can come unwind and partake in drink, games, entertainment and flesh (so long as they pay).

- Women’s tea house and bath. A safe area for women to mingle, converse and relax absent the scrutiny of men.

- The Tarn’s Roost Cafe and Inn. A place for visitors to stay and dine, and where both free men and women can enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed social setting.

-Marketplace. Overseen Bring us wares, and above all, RP. You shall leave with goodies.

- Healing RP. If the player is available, we have a member of the Green offering services. If not, Vargor may still be able to provide some basic aid.

- Combat training is possible with interest. Ubar Drystan dons the scarlet, and is skilled in all forms of violence (PvP lessons).

This list may grow as our group grows and expands its services. Social nights will be hosted weekly at one of the three established rp settings.

Vargor focuses on building long lasting interpersonal and caste RP within its own walls, whilst offering political, trade, conflict and even a little slice of life to outsiders. We aim to bring a living, breathing settlement to Gor where everyone can find an excuse to come and find RP.

Visitors and Ally Clans

Both are welcome. Inn rooms can be used for some who wish to stay for a little while.

Alliances can be made with other small clans to build around the lake. RP is a must for these things, and they will be considered as an extension of Vargor itself as the Home Stone grows.

We request that all builds be created using the Nemedian and Bossonian build sets to fit the environment, and that the building spaces used are approved beforehand by the clan (we are very mindful of both keeping the area as free of lag as possible, as well as immersive and on theme). Building assistance is happily offered if desired, and we understand not everyone has nor wishes to pay for the Nemedian DLC. Allies will be offered RP, protection and gear/resources as needed.

Old description

Vargor, a city born from determination and necessity after the threat of the volcano's eruption emptied the lands of so many and the Stygian raiders became more brazen in their attacks on those left behind. What was molded from adversity is a hamlet nestled around the big lake whose shores touches the snow crested mountains of the North, the southern sands of the South, and the rich plains of the wagon people. It has blossomed into a place that welcomes all walks of life.

Vargor has built itself into a thriving community, rich with both opportunity for those of high caste or low, as well as those with no caste at all. As the town grows the residents begin to move out into the surrounding area developing culturally unique areas that introduce conflict between regions. While Vargor is a home that offers opportunity for warrior, tradesman, and merchant alike, finding one's proper place will take some time.
